Crave:

Monday’s always a rough day. You’ve had a few days off, been able to relax, and now you’re back at school. You’re getting assignments, listening to lectures, and already you wish it were Friday. Well, there’s finally a reason to look forward to Mondays, and it’s called Crave.
Every Monday night High School students (grades 9 – 12) are invited to join us in The Loft for Crave, a Bible Study designed just for you. We’ll open the doors at 5:00pm and you can come hang out with us until we get started. If you want to do homework, go for it. If you just want to sit around, that’s fine with us. We’ll have some food to snack on, video games to play, and plenty of space just to hang out. We’re even opening up the gym for some crazy competitions like Dodgeball, Kickball, and Flag Football. Crave will officially start up at 7pm and finish at 8:30pm each Monday night.
During Crave you can expect to open the Bible as we work our way through the Scriptures to uncover God’s story and how we fit into it. We’ll ask questions, seek out answers, and walk away with a new look at what God’s doing in our lives. Each week we will also have a dedicated time to pray for each other, our families, friends, and community.
You and your friends are invited, and we hope to see you at Crave!
Upcoming Schedule:
From April 23 – May 14, each week at Crave we’ll learn a little TLC. Not tender, love and care but to “Think Like Christ”. As we study Jesus’ words from the Sermon on the Mount we’ll wrestle with how we can think like Christ when it comes to things like anger, lust, our future marriages, and revenge. Each week we’ll hold nothing back as we see how Christ’s words can challenge, teach, and help us to grow in our own relationships with Christ. This is one series that will stretch and challenge every one of us, leaders included!
Snapshots. They’re brief glimpses into the world of what we’re looking at. Starting May 21st we’re taking a Snapshot of some of the major players throughout the Bible. These brief glimpses will tell us a bit about their lives, what they experienced, what they learned, and how that still impacts us today.
*Note there is no class on May 28th due to Memorial Day.
Events:
June 25th marks the return of the GIANT SLIP ‘N SLIDE! This 100 foot behemoth will be up from 6:30 – 8:30 out on the back lawn of the church. We’ll grease up the slide, buy some inflatable tubes to slide on and have a great time. Bring a few friends along for this great night.
Trips:
Join us as we head to Castaway Bay and Cedar Point for 2 days jam-packed (June 19th and 20th) with water slides, wave pools, roller coasters, and much more! After the short drive to Sandusky, OH we’ll check-in at Castaway Bay for a full day of hanging out at their indoor water park resort. We’ll hang out in the wave pool, ride the slides, put in some arcade time, and much more. That night we’ve rented out a conference room for a bunch of late night options before it’s off to our rooms for a restful nights sleep. The next morning we’ll take a quick drive down the causeway to Cedar Point for a full day at America’s Rockin’ Roller Coast. We’ll get to begin riding rides an hour before everyone else, and spend all day at one of the nation’s best amusement parks. Castaway Point is one trip you won’t want to miss out on!
The Cost:
Worried about the cost? So were we! I mean those indoor water park resorts and Cedar Point can get pretty pricey. But we worked some magic and got the cost down pretty darn low. So what’s it going to cost you? Only $75! That will cover your hotel stay, water park pass at Castaway Bay, Cedar Point admission, transportation, and your dinner on the 19th. All other food is on your own.
The Details:
We will meet on Tuesday, June 19th at 8:45am outside the Gym at Cross of Christ. We will depart promptly at 9am. We will return to the church on Wednesday, June 20th at 11:45pm. This trip is open to anyone that is entering Grade 9 and up in the fall of 2012.
Chaperon’s Needed:
We are in need of at least 1 adult leader in each room. If you are willing to join us and possibly driving your own vehicle (if needed) we will gladly cover your costs. If you are able to chaperon please fill out our registration form and let Pat know asap. The chaperon spaces are limited so these will be filled based on a first come, first serve basis.
To Register:
To sign up please download the registration form below, complete it, and turn it in with a $25 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot. We will not register anyone without the completed form and deposit. The remaining $50 can be paid the day we leave.
Castaway Point Registration Form
The Castaway Point Release Form will need to be completed and turned in when we leave. We’ll mail home the form as well, but just in case you can download it here as well.
From July 16-21 we will be taking a group of people to Anderson, IN to serve at Bethesda Lutheran Homes, SonRise Camp. We will help to provide a camp for individuals with developmental disabilities. SonRise Camp provides a camp-like experience for individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the summer. Each year High School students help make this experience a reality. At camp each student will be assigned to assist a camper for the week. They will help the camper complete crafts, play games, go for nature hikes, and much more. Most importantly students get to know their camper by talking with them each day. At the end of each day we will have group time for devotions, games, and other activities.
In preparation for the trip we will hold a team meeting in late June for a parent and all team members to discuss this trip. We will not be fundraising for this trip, however assistance is available if needed. SonRise Camp will cost $125 to participate in. This covers your transportation, most of your food, and housing for the week. If you need assistance please talk with Pat Williams as soon as possible to see what is available for your family. This trip is open to all students going into 9th grade and higher. To hold a spot, complete a registration form (available below), the SonRise Camp application packet, and turn it in with a $25 deposit (the remaining $100 is due in early July).
Why should a student go? If you are interested in having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others, then this trip is for you. Throughout this trip you will be able to serve others and grow deeper in your own spiritual journey. This trip will contain small group breakout times, tons of prayer, and a whole lot more each and every day.
