These past few days have been perfect.
Today was orphanage day which is typically an emotionally rough day. The Sisters of Mercy Orphanage was our first stop. Today was an unusually busy day there. So many parents and other mission teams were there also which was amazing to see. I ended up being upstairs with the older children and met some of the happiest and joyful children that I have ever met- which is saying a lot because Haitians are filled with so much joy. They had fun brushing Alicia’s hair out, singing songs with us and playing futbol. It was hard leaving the kids but the memory of their love will never be forgotten.
Next up we had the kids from the children’s dream center over for a pool party and BBQ. The kids arrived singing and dancing, so excited to be here. They immediately came out hugging us and kissing out cheeks. Since none of the kids knew how to swim, I assumed that a bunch wouldn’t want to go into the water. I assumed wrong. They jumped into the water with their floaties on and armed with water guns and toys. The party was an absolute success and was an amazing idea. I feel so blessed to have been a part of that.
As the night unfolds our team captain, Tyler, is preparing for our soccer tournament tomorrow. He hopes to win a few games but we will see haha 🙂
